Liverpool have again been mentioned as a possible destination for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe.
The France international has emerged as one of the best players in world football over the past five seasons at PSG, where he has scored 160 goals in 209 appearances in all competitions.
He has scored 26 goals in 54 appearances for France in that time too as he helped Les Bleus win the World Cup in 2018, bagging four goals at the tournament.
Mbappe is out of contract at the end of the season with PSG and he is widely expected to either sign a new deal with the French giants or move to Real Madrid.
Spanish publication Marca claimed at the beginning of March that PSG had offered Mbappe a staggering €100m (£83m) signing-on bonus to renew at Parc des Princes.
Despite that, it is still uncertain what the 23-year-old will do this summer and his latest comments have thrown everything into doubt once again.
Speaking after PSG thrashed Lorient 5-1 on Sunday, Mbappe claimed that he still hasn’t made his mind up on his future and that there are now “new elements” to mull over.
“I didn’t take my decision yet,” Mbappe said. “I’m thinking about it as there are new elements to consider and I don’t want to make mistakes, I want to make the best decision possible.
“If I had taken a decision, I would have said so. I don’t owe it to anyone, it’s a personal decision. If I make a decision, I say it.”
Although Real Madrid are clear favourites for his signature if he leaves France, Liverpool have been mooted as a possible destination on a number of occasions.
And now L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) believe that Mbappe’s comments signal fresh interest from other clubs with the French newspaper speculating about Liverpool putting a ‘bold financial package’ together to land the France international.
The report adds that Manchester City’s ‘lack of historical dimension’ has always been a concern of Mbappe’s but it would still be a shock to see him end up at Anfield with the financial figures involved in any deal.
