Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League was short-lived after Manchester City won 2-0 at Burnley to overtake Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Nathan Ake started alongside Aymeric Laporte in defence, while Ederson was in goal after overcoming the illness which prevented him from joining up with Brazil.

Maxwel Cornet was on the bench as Wout Weghorst led the line in a 4-5-1 formation.
City needed only five minutes to break the deadlock at Turf Moor as Kevin De Bruyne marked his 200th Premier League appearance for the club with a goal.
Raheem Sterling controlled Rodri’s cross-field pass and clipped the ball inside for De Bruyne to rifle beyond Nick Pope.
City doubled their lead in the 25th minute and the goal again came down the right.
Raheem Sterling exchanged passes with De Bruyne before cutting the ball back for Ilkay Gundogan to stroke home.
A goalless second half means that Pep Guardiola’s side returned to the Premier League summit.
