Whilst the pair are certainly not the finished article, they have helped Arsenal become contenders for the top four this season after a few disappointing campaigns.

Gabriel has made 27 Premier League appearances so far this season, keeping 12 clean sheets and chipping in with three goals.

His form hasn’t gone unnoticed and Spanish giants are reportedly interested in a move for the 24-year-old.

Sport (via Metro) reported on Tuesday that the Barcelona hierarchy are considering a bid for the defender and could offer Arsenal a number of players in a possible swap deal.

Attacker Memphis Depay, young midfielder Riqui Puig and goalkeeper Neto have all be spoken about a potential players that Barcelona could offer to the Gunners.

However, Gabriel has insisted he is enjoying his time at the club and he ‘feels at home’ at the Emirates.

Speaking to Premier League Productions (via Metro), when asked about his Gunners career so far, the Brazilian said: “Well in my first season I certainly learnt a lot.

“It’s been a real challenge here and I am more and more settled every day. I feel better and better with each passing game.

“At the same time, we know we all can’t be perfect in every match. We do make mistakes.

“But I feel good, I feel at home at Arsenal. It’s a great squad to be a part of and together I am sure we can achieve a lot. I am very happy here.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has revealed he was very close to leaving the club over the anger he was receiving from the club’s fans.

He told The Players’ Tribune: “I was done with Arsenal. Finished. There was a contract on the table from another club, and all I had to do was sign.”

Reflecting on the incident, he said: “When I close my eyes now, I can still see their faces. I can see their anger. It’s not that they don’t like me. No, it’s different.

“This is hate. Pure hate. I am really not exaggerating this.”
