‘I want to play’ – Player admits there’s ‘no point’ returning to Man Utd

Man Utd starlet Brandon Williams has acknowledged that there is “no point” in him returning to the club this summer if he is just going to be on the bench.

The full-back has been capped at U21 level for England. He made his senior debut for Man Utd in the Europa League in October 2019.

Williams featured prominently for United during the 2019/20 campaign as he played 36 times across all competitions.

The 21-year-old fell down the pecking order last term though as he only played four Premier League games. Ahead of the 2021/22 season, he joined Norwich City on loan.

The Englishman has been a regular for the Canaries this term and he is not out of contract until 2025.

Williams is “loving playing games” and he now feels “better equipped for the Premier League”:

“I’m playing games now and I love it,” Williams told The Daily Mail.

“I can’t wait for the weekend so I can get to the stadium. There would be no point in me going back to United and just sitting on the bench. I want to play and feel I’m better equipped for the Premier League after this experience.

“Whether it’s at United or somewhere else, we’ll deal with that in the summer. But I’ve got a job to do here at Norwich.”

Elsewhere, Rio Ferdinand believes Chelsea wouldn’t think twice about poaching Thomas Tuchel off Man Utd if “roles were reversed”:

“I’m taking Tuchel, I don’t care,” Ferdinand told his Vibe with Five YouTube channel. “If roles were reversed and Man Utd were there and we had Tuchel as a sitting duck at our football club, presuming that he is a sitting duck from the reports that we’re hearing, there is a chance you could get him.

“If that was the case and the roles were reversed, trust me, Roman and the empire would be knocking down the door. In fact, they wouldn’t have even knocked down the door; they would have gone round the side and just took him.

“Tuchel would be the one because he has shown that he has got the pedigree. He has shown already that he can come into this league, adapted straight away, won the Champions League, he can galvanise a squad, get them playing, create a culture, create a togetherness and he has got discipline.”
