Man Utd ready to gazump Juventus with £59m bid in midfield ‘rebuild’

Man Utd are serious about signing Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, according to reports in Italy.

Former Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was reportedly keen to add another central midfielder in the summer, but was unable to bring one in.

They signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane instead, spending over £100million for the trio.

One player they have been regularly linked with over the past couple of seasons is Milinkovic-Savic, who has contributed eight goals and nine assists in 29 Serie A matches this campaign.

Last week a report claimed that Man Utd were facing a ‘big battle’ with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio in the summer transfer window.

But now Tutto Juve has insisted Juventus are in the mix for the Serbian but that Man Utd are ‘very interested’ as they look to ‘rebuild their midfield’ this summer.

It is claimed that Milinkovic-Savic ‘would be the right reinforcement’ for the Red Devils and that the Man Utd hierarchy is hoping to offer their new manager as ‘many variants as possible’ to bring glory back to Old Trafford.

The report adds that Man Utd would be willing to pay €70m (£59m) for Milinkovic-Savic and that would rule Juventus completely out of the race as it’s ‘unattainable’ for the Old Lady.

Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes says it is a “privilege” to play for Man Utd after extending his contract at the club by another year.

The Portugal international said: “From the moment that I joined Manchester United I have had a special relationship with the club and our amazing fans. I grew up watching this team, dreaming of getting the chance to play here one day. That dream is now a reality and an honour.

“Even after two years, it still feels amazing to step out at Old Trafford, to hear the fans sing my song and to score in front of the Stretford End. It is a true privilege to wear this shirt and to fight for our incredible club.

“There is so much more that I want to achieve here, and I know that is the same for the rest of the squad and staff.

“More than anything, we want to give the fans the success that they deserve. We have shared some great moments over the last years, but the best is yet to come from myself and this team.”
