Ralf Rangnick says that it is “normal” to play in a different role after Paul Pogba complained about being played in different positions at Man Utd.
The France international’s contract is expiring at the end of the season and with no sign of an agreement over a new contract at Old Trafford, it appears Pogba will be playing his football elsewhere next term.
Pogba missed a large chunk of this season through injury and has not hit top form for Man Utd for a long time.
His performances since returning to Man Utd in 2016 have been criticised on many occasions and Pogba recently commented that his time at Old Trafford had not been good enough, while claiming he doesn’t know his role in the team.
Pogba said on international duty with France: “You have to be honest, the last five seasons have not satisfied me – really not at all.
“This year it is dead, we won’t win anything. Whether it is with Manchester United or at another club, I want to win trophies.
“It’s simple with France, I play and I play in my position – I know my role and I feel the confidence of the coach and the players.
“It’s normal to feel a difference at Manchester United because it’s hard to be consistent when you often have a change to your position, or the team system, or your partners.
“I get along very well with [France boss Didier Deschamps], he gave me a role that I know, but at Manchester United do I really have a role? I ask the question but I don’t have an answer.”
And when asked about Pogba’s comments in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Rangnick said: “I’ve got enough to do now to prepare the team for the next game, and I don’t think it makes sense to interpret or just judge what he has said in an interview, it doesn’t make sense, for me it’s only important to judge him.

“I heard he said he had played in different positions in the last couple of weeks.
“Since the game against West Ham on 22 January we have lost three strikers since then, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani – who is injured again and will be out for the next couple of weeks, and on top of that if Paul was still injured himself, with Bruno or Scott McTominay missing, you have to play in a different role. This is normal.”
