Three players to leave Man Utd – club ‘have no intention to open talks’

According to reports, three players are set to leave Man Utd this summer as the Premier League club ‘have no intention to open talks’ with them over a new contract.

The players in question are Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata. All three are out of contract in June.

Lingard had a successful loan spell at West Ham United last season. He grabbed nine goals and four assists from just 16 Premier League appearances.

The Englishman was linked with a move away last summer and in January but he remains at Man Utd for the time being.

Meanwhile, 35-year-old Cavani joined the Red Devils for free from PSG in 2020. He had a fruitful season last term as he netted 17 goals but he has barely featured so far in 2021/22.

Finally, Mata signed for Man Utd in 2014 from Chelsea. He was a key player for United but he has not made a single appearance in the Premier League this season.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed via Twitter that Man Utd’s plan for the trio ‘has not changed’.

Lingard, Cavani and Mata will be departing for free this summer as United have ‘no intention’ to hold talks.

Romano does add that Bruno Fernandes’ new contract will be signed ‘in the coming days’ and talks with Luke Shaw will ‘start soon’.

Elsewhere, a €90m bid for Tammy Abraham will not be enough to ‘move’ AS Roma to the negotiation table, according to reports.

Abraham joined Roma last summer for a reported £40m fee and has been in superb form for the Italian side this season.

He has scored 23 goals in 40 matches across all competitions and was recently called up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate.

Manchester United and Arsenal have both been linked with the 24-year-old, with United said to be ‘particularly interested’ in signing him.

However, Roma manager Jose Mourinho considers Abraham to be ‘essential’ and the Italian club have no intention of selling this summer, according to Calciomercato (via HITC).

Chelsea have a clause to buy the England striker for €80m, a clause that expires at the end of the 2023 summer transfer window.

The Blues bought Romelu Lukaku for a club-record fee in the same window Abraham departed for Rome, so it is unlikely that the London club exercise the buy-back option.

Arsenal and United, on the other hand, are looking to sign a new No. 9 in the upcoming summer window.

The Gunners only have Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah in that position and they are both out of contract at the end of the season.
